A Golden Summer Afternoon in South Park: Reschedules, Resilience, and Multi-Generational Memories

If there is one thing we know about summer in Western Pennsylvania, it’s that the weather keeps us on our toes!

Our recent summer mini-sessions in South Park were originally rained out, forcing us to reschedule. When our makeup date finally arrived, it brought with it a classic, blazing-hot summer afternoon. But here is a photographer's secret: with a little strategic shade, a relaxed atmosphere, and the right light, you would never know from the final gallery just how warm it actually was!

We tucked ourselves away under the cool canopy of one of my absolute favorite shaded spots in South Park, and the result was a collection of sweet, sun-kissed moments that felt entirely effortless.

Reconnecting from South Park Community Day

One of the absolute best parts of my job is seeing familiar faces. Last year, I had a blast setting up a booth at the South Park Community Day. That is where I first met a wonderful local family from the nearby Pleasant Hills and Jefferson Hills area.

When they reached out to book a slot for our rescheduled summer minis, I was absolutely thrilled to get them in front of my camera.

Three Generations of Love & Connection

This session was incredibly special because we got to capture three distinct generations of love.

We started with a beautiful couple who are celebrating a sweet, wonderful new chapter of life together. They have never had professional photos taken of just the two of them, and documenting their quiet, genuine connection was an absolute joy. Their love story is such a beautiful reminder that every season of life deserves to be celebrated and preserved.

We then captured the daughter, her husband, and their sweet kids. Everyone coordinated perfectly in a cool, summer-inspired color palette of blues, crisp whites, and splashes of cheerful yellow—which looked absolutely stunning against the deep greens of the park.

To top it all off, we made sure to capture those priceless, once-in-a-lifetime moments of the grandparents with their grandchildren.

Scouting New Local Spots: Nana’s Recommendation!

The best photography locations are often the ones recommended by the people who live and breathe the local community. During our session, Nana gave me an awesome insider tip about a beautiful, scenic overlook spot near the Jefferson Hills cemetery that has incredible potential for future portrait sessions.
