Celebrating Motherhood: A South Hills Mommy & Me Event at Summit Station

There is nothing quite like the bond between a mother and her children, and capturing those fleeting, beautiful interactions is truly one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. This year, we decided to celebrate Mother’s Day a day early with a special Mommy & Me collaborative event designed just for local families!

We hosted the celebration at the beautiful clubhouse within the Summit Station community, making it the perfect, convenient spot for South Hills moms to come together, relax, and create sweet memories with their little ones.

Creative Fun with Local South Hills Businesses

To make the day extra special, I teamed up with two incredible local businesses to provide a full morning of activities. While families waited for their portrait slots, the kids stayed busy decorating custom Mother's Day cards and unleashing their inner bakers.

We partnered with Laurette's Sweet n' Treats, who provided a fabulous cupcake decorating station. Seeing the kids get creative with frosting (and sneak a few sweet bites!) was a total joy.

We also had the wonderful Mrs. Snow hosting a Sound Beginnings music class session. If you are a parent in the South Hills, you already know that everyone always enjoys music with Mrs. Snow! Her energy brought so much laughter and rhythm to the clubhouse, keeping the kids completely engaged and smiling.

A Boho, Airy Aesthetic for Mommy & Me Photos

For the portrait setup, I wanted something timeless, bright, and elegant. I styled an outdoor space using a pretty white lace backdrop combined with a fresh flower arrangement in the foreground. This styling perfectly framed the candid, loving moments between the moms and their children.

Mommy and me photos are a deep favorite of mine because, so often, moms are the ones behind the camera taking the pictures of everyone else! It was an honor to get these beautiful mothers into the frame, capturing the soft giggles, the tight hugs, and the quiet glances that define motherhood.
